Important Tips for Getting Started

We’re so excited to be able to serve you as you use your new website to attract potential coaching clients. Your website is your “front porch”, allowing prospects to get to know about you, your practice, and the benefits of coaching.

As you move forward, we wanted to share a few tips that will help you make your site your own, and do it with the greatest ease and efficiency.

First, work with the theme. If you envision a website that’s completely different from the theme we created, then it may be a good decision to hire a designer to build one from the ground up. The colors, fonts, and layout were chosen to work together, offering a well thought out design that looks clean and professional. Changing layouts may also hinder the mobile-friendliness of the site.

Second, re-size your photos before uploading them. The larger images that sit at the top of each page are 1440×880 pixels. The smaller photos found in the middle of the pages are 800×800. Also, images must be smaller than 1MB. An improperly sized photo can cause section gaps, misplace overlay text, and generally make your site look goofy.

Third, remember the font rule. A website should have no more than 2 (or 3 if you’re feeling saucy) different fonts. We have carefully chosen the fonts to work together and not overwhelm the eye. We recommend sticking with them. If you must replace a font, we recommend replacing it throughout the entire site. This lends to a professional look and an easier read through your information.

Fourth, check mobile responsiveness. Once you’ve made edits to your site, use the purple mobile view options at the bottom left of the screen in the Divi builder. You can also check your site on your mobile phone to see how it looks.

Lastly, keep it simple. Trying to make your website do everything means that it will do nothing well. Remember the purpose (to introduce people to your practice) and keep it light and focused.
